This website is hosted by Google Sites. Google Sites allows us to host secured web content for free without any server charges or programing costs. However, it also means that to log into our website you must have a Google Account to authenticate.
We understand that this may be an inconvenience to some of our owners and residents, but the other options become time consuming or very expensive very fast and for the size of our community, it is not practical to host a custom website with development costs at their cheapest averaging $20k - $30k for the features we'd need to run efficiently and hosting and maintenance costs being close to $50/month.
The website and shared Google Drive for owners holds hundreds of documents. It is impractical for a small team of volunteers to manually service all of these documents to 30+ owners and residents, emailing them 4-5 times a week every time a file changes or is updated. The website allows the HOA Leadership to focus on the issues at hand and maintaining a range of accurate, up-to-date documents. The website allows owners and residents to access real-time information as soon as it's available.
Put simply, No, but it's a little confusing. A Google Account and a Gmail Account are not exactly the same thing. Gmail is a service provided by a Google Account, but you can opt to use your own personal email address to create a Google Account to access services like the website. So a Gmail Account is a Google Account but a Google Account doesn't require a Gmail Address.
... I know that's probably confusing.
If you own an Android Phone or have had an Android phone in the past, you most likely already have a Gmail or Google Account, because it's required by the phone.
The easiest way is to go to Google.com and in the top right, click on the "Sign In" button to sign try and sign in.
If there is no "Sign In" button, you may already have a Google Account and are currently signed into it. Click the profile circle in the top right to see what account you're using.
You can click the "Create a New Google Account" button to create a Google Account. The following Google help article will provide instructions on the process: Create a Google Account.
The first step is to send the email address of your Google Account to the HOA Leadership so they can add it to the permissions for access to the website.
Next you should make sure that you are logged into the account on Google.com.
Once you are logged into that account you can click the "Login" button in the navigation bar at the top right of this page which should take you to the website. You can also get there by going directly to secure.windsoromaha.com.
